Drink Driving Perth Questions

Hi,
My son had his third drink driving offence with the penalty being a fine and disqualification from driving for 10 months. His licence was also cancelled. Also at that time he had nearly 12 demeritt points and a speeding fine took him over the limit. He was told that he would not be able to apply for his licence until he had served out the 10 months as well as a further 3 month suspension for the demeritt points. Is that correct? Will he have to have a learners permit ,do the required hours of driving and P plates again when he applies for a licence? I know he needs to see a doctor for liver function tests as part of getting a licence again. Is that all he needs to do apart from sitting the computer test and a driving test? He was not a P plate driver at the time.

A lot of questions. .Thanks

Dear "Doesnt Learn"
Thank you for your query. The answers to your questions depends on the order that the offences occurred so I would need some more information before being able to give you an answer. Whether your son needs to do his p plates again will also depend on the circumstances of the offence which resulted in the cancellation and his whole driving history. If the Department of Transport have not given him a definite answer then it may be worthwhile you making an appointment to get specific advice on your son's personal circumstances.
